vox888 The Denver Broncos beat Sean Payton’s former team, the New Orleans Saints, on Thursday.

Sean Payton returned to the Superdome as head coach of the Denver Broncos before leading the Broncos to a 33-10 home defeat by the New Orleans Saints, who he coached from 2006-2021, on Thursday, making it five straight losses for the Saints and dropping them to 2-5, NFL Network reported. vox888

“It means a lot,” Peyton said of his return to his home ground with the win. “Chuck, and I’m going to be polite, we’ve only been preparing for two days and we’re here, so we didn’t get enough sleep. We kind of forgot about things because there’s so much to do. My concern was not getting enough sleep, so I just got a little sleep today and got back here early to start planning the game.”

‘But it means a lot because there are so many years here and you get to meet the old players here.’

Rookie quarterback Bo Nix completed 16 of 26 passes for 164 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions but was instrumental in the Mustangs’ drive, while 24-year-old running back Javontae Williams carried the ball 14 times for 88 yards and two touchdowns, and linebacker Cody Barton recovered a fumble for another score.

“Being on this team and this ownership group is why you miss it,” Peyton said. “A year away, you miss the relationships, you miss the memories. Like I told them two or three weeks ago, (Patrick) Surtain had an interception (for a 100-yard touchdown) right in front of our bench.”

‘Someday I won’t remember his name and eat applesauce out of a straw, but I will remember that play. So to be around these young guys and have the opportunity to be a part of their journey and coach them, it’s a great job. I’m grateful for that. Yeah, it’s pretty emotional.’

‘We definitely ran the ball well, we had some pressure on defense,’ Peyton said. ‘We had some problems and I told DA (Dennis Allen) that they’re going to bounce back because they’ve got a good football team. A few of their guys aren’t available right now, but overall, I’m happy with how we did.’  ( vox888 )
