vox888 San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Piersall returned to practice after being removed from the non-football-related reserve/injury list.

The San Francisco 49ers have placed Ricky Piersall on the non-football-related reserve/injured list after the rookie first-round draft pick suffered a gunshot wound to the chest during a downtown robbery attempt on Sept. 2, NFL Network reports. vox888

Piersall will be out for at least four weeks since being placed on the non-football-related injured reserve/reserve list, with two more games to recover before the 49ers can remove the rookie wide receiver from the roster and activate him within 21 days, or they will be barred from using Piersall for the rest of the season. 

The 31st overall rookie draft pick is recovering well and could soon be in his first NFL game, but the 49ers are also dealing with injuries to running backs Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason, who are out with calf/hamstring and shoulder injuries, respectively. ( vox888 )
