vox888 Mike MacDonald’s Seattle Seahawks are struggling defensively, losing three straight after losing to the San Francisco 49ers.

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Leonard Williams admitted after Thursday’s 36-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, which sent them on a three-game losing streak, that defensive players need to address the issue, NFL Network reported. vox888

The Seahawks gave up 483 total yards, including 228 rushing yards, in Thursday’s loss to the 49ers. That comes after giving up 420 total yards and 175 rushing yards in last week’s 20-29 loss to the New York Giants and 389 total yards and 116 rushing yards in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions, setting a perfect record for Jared Goff. 

“That’s something we’ve had to deal with for a number of games,” Williams said. “As a defensive lineman and playing in a front seven, that’s something we should take pride in. To let that continue is not good for our defense, but it’s good for our team, and we’ve definitely got to figure out how to fix it before we get to where we want to be as a team.”

‘I think part of it is we have to figure out how to do our job, keep it simple, and stop thinking about doing someone else’s job. I think that’s what happens sometimes in long runs or big plays.’

As Seahawks safety Julian Love added, “I think it’s just the basics. We’ve got to be clear in the meeting room and talk about what we need to work on in terms of the basics. That’s the good part. The interesting part is we haven’t really executed that routinely. Mike (McDonald) is trying his best, and we’ve got to find a way to mix it up and control our tempo.”

The Seahawks are giving up an average of 14.3 points per game through their first three games against the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins, but over the past three weeks, they are giving up an average of 35.7 points per game and five turnovers per game.

“We’ve got to get better at defense, we’ve got to get more runs,” Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon added. “That’s the general theme.”

“Everybody’s got to be open-minded,” Seahawks safety Rayshawn Jenkins added. “I think we’ve got the right players, I think we are, but we really have to take responsibility together and we can’t beat around the bush.” ( vox888 )
