A statement from the club confirmed the surgery was carried out to treat a groin injury that had limited his game for several months.

The plan is to postpone the surgery until the summer so he can recover and should be ready to join his teammates for pre-season training.

The players will gather at the Formello training ground in Rome to begin working with new manager Maurizio Sarri on July 14.

Zaccagni just celebrated his 30th birthday last week and has been a Lazio player since the summer of 2021.

This season, he has scored 10 goals and provided 9 assists in 46 appearances.

Lazio’s season will be less intense than usual as they do not qualify for European football, so they will focus solely on Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
