Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald has confirmed he will use third-round rookie draft pick Jalen Milro at quarterback, with no intention of using him as a utility weapon like the New Orleans Saints’ Tayson Hill, The Athletic reports. ( zbet911 )
Former Alabama quarterback Milroe is a powerful, versatile quarterback who was one of the best pass-rushers in this year’s draft, and the Seahawks chose Milroe to play as a game-changer behind Sam Darnold, the starting quarterback. MacDonald insists he won’t be using Milroe as a versatile player like Hill on the Saints.
“The way the (Saints) use (Hill) is a hybrid of inside receiver and fullback, sometimes he catches the ball, but Jalen is our quarterback,” MacDonald said. “He’s trained to be our quarterback. When he plays, he’s going to be our quarterback, but the athleticism comes out when he’s on the field.”
When asked if the Seahawks need to be patient with Milro, who is a powerful athlete who still needs to develop as a quarterback,
“We don’t have a lot of patience here,” MacDonald said. “Developing players and coaching our players is always a hustle. Jalen will be in that position, as will everyone else.”
