Recently, she caused a stir again when she spoke out for the first time about her journey to Islam after visiting Malaysia.

In an interview with Singaporean host and podcaster Dzar Ismail, Rae Lil Black shared her faith journey, which was heavily influenced by a trip to Kuala Lumpur last year.

“The people here are so kind. Why don’t I try to understand their culture?”

Last year, Rae Lil Black visited Malaysia and not only did she thrill many when she tried eating nasi kandar with her bare hands, she also had a spiritual reason for her visit.

With an inquisitive mind, Rae Lil Black wanted to gain a deeper understanding of Islam. After traveling to Thailand, she visited mosques in Kuala Lumpur.

Here, she received a warm welcome, which made her more open-minded and want to learn more about Muslim culture.

She didn’t just rely on the people around her to learn, but also studied through YouTube videos before trying to pray by herself at the mosque. As a beginner, Kae admitted that it was difficult and confusing to do it correctly. She had to practice repeatedly until she was finally able to pray all five daily prayers.

“I decided to pray because I wanted to ask for help from something greater and more powerful. After I did it, I felt a great sense of lightness.”

“I feel that if I pray continuously, my anxiety will decrease.”

When it comes to the judgment of others, Rae Lil Black admits that it hurts sometimes.

“But I took a deep breath and let it go. It doesn’t matter.”

Despite losing over a million social media followers and facing a lot of harsh comments, her parents were fortunate not to object to her new beliefs. On the contrary, they felt that Islam brought her closer to her family.

“Before, I only talked to my dad twice a year, but now I talk to my parents more often and spend more time with them.”

“I haven’t cared about my career for 5 years.”

When asked about the unreleased videos, Rae Lil Black admitted that there is still an adult video she filmed over a year ago that has not been released yet, depending on when the company will release it.

“It might make people think that I’m still working, when in fact I’m not in this industry anymore.”

She also confessed that she had felt lost for years, but things were slowly falling into place after she began to explore her new beliefs.
