Previously, there was a dramatic issue that the government, led by Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra, might decide not to renew the contract to organize the MotoGP race after the original contract with Dorna Sports expires in 2026, in order to use the budget to invest in organizing the Formula One race instead.

However, Mr. Newin Chidchob recently confirmed via his Facebook page “Uncle Newin” that the government, led by Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra and Minister of Tourism and Sports Surawong Thienthong, has confirmed that they are ready to extend the contract to organize the MotoGP race for another 5 years (until 2031).

“Thank you, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Surawong Thienthong, for extending the MotoGP contract for another 5 years and to hold it at Chang International Circuit, Buriram, because it is the only track in Thailand that meets the standards to host a MotoGP race,” Newin began.
