The story began in 2018, when Netflix agreed to pay Rinch to make a sci-fi series called “White Horse,” later renamed “Conquest,” which was reportedly a passion project between Rinch and his then-wife Gabriela Roses.

Between 2018 and 2019, Netflix paid him about $44 million to make the series. Rinch filmed episodes in Brazil, Uruguay and Budapest, and then asked Netflix for an additional $11 million to complete the series, prosecutors said.

But it turned out that the series did not go as planned.

The report goes on to say that during filming, Rinch’s behavior became increasingly bizarre, with the crew beginning to complain about his behavior, and his wife secretly divorcing him in 2020.

The FBI and New York prosecutors say that instead of completing the series, Rinch used the final $11 million to buy bonds, invest in cryptocurrency and live a lavish lifestyle, buying five Rolls-Royces, a Ferrari and other expensive items.
