Mark Gordon, who produced “Speed,” will also executive produce the film. Gordon and Oppenheim pitched the idea to Reeves and Bullock, who agreed to co-execute.

“Speed” is one of the most important films of the ’90s, and the chemistry between Reeves and Bullock was a big part of its success. The pair reunited last year for a special 30th anniversary screening to tell a fascinating story behind the film.

Bullock was fresh off a successful run in “The Lost City” last year, while Reeves, in addition to the success of the “John Wick” series, also had a successful “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” in which he voices Shadow.
